Crypto Trader Nets $250M on Trump-Linked WLFI Token Launch Amid Market Turmoil
A cryptocurrency trader known as Techno Revenant capitalized on the volatile debut of World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a DeFi token associated with Donald Trump's family, securing a $250 million windfall. Etherscan data reveals the trader's wallet received 1% of WLFI's total supply—valued at roughly $250 million—after a $15 million investment in last year's token sale. This follows a $38 million profit from trading XPL derivatives during last week's market turbulence.
WLFI's launch saw frenzied trading, briefly spiking to $0.40 before settling at $0.25 with over $5 billion in volume. The euphoria was marred by a targeted phishing attack exploiting Ethereum's Pectra upgrade, which security analysts identified as an EIP-7702 vulnerability. While Techno Revenant exited unscathed, other holders fell victim to the exploit.
